The Winery

The evolution that Bodegas Naranjo has developed in its 7.000 m2 in the downtown of Carrión de Calatrava has been contemplated for three centuries. 

The cellar was founded by Mr. Gaspar Naranjo Coello in year 1898 and nowadays it is run by Ramón & Francisco Muñoz de Cuerva (fifth generation that elaborates wines in these fittings).

 Pioneer in the elaboration of quality wines from the Denomination of Origin La Mancha, its wines have been awarded with more than 100 prizes in national and international contests.

 The building of earthenware jars from the XIX century has been preserved intact and nowadays new buildings from the beginning of XXI century are located next to him:

-         Ageing room: this building was published in the most important architecture journals.

-         The wine shop ‘Jaraiz’: the shop is joined to the old porches where the grape was molted more than 100 years ago.

-         The showing and tasting room is integrated into the original building of earthenware jars with high respect.

 THE VINEYARD

 The more than 600 ha. of vineyards (100 ha. of them belong to the grape Cencibel-Tempranillo of more than 50 years old) are controlled by the technical department of the winery, from the pruning to the harvest.

 I+D+I

 Since the beginning of year 2000 Bodegas Naranjo is working closely in several projects with the Castilla-La Mancha University.

One of them, for the genetic identity of those vineyards of Cencibel variety of more than 50 years old that produce quality wines of an exceptional quality and which are responsible for the success of the wines VIÑA CUERVA and CASA DE LA DEHESA.
