Bodebas Naranjo was founded in 1898 by Gaspar Nranjo Coello, ancestor of the current owners- Ramón and Francisco Muñoz de Cuerva Sobrino-, who are the fith generation to manage this hundred-year-old winery.
The winery is located in the province of Ciudad Real, in Carrión de Calatrava, in the heart of Campo de Calatrava, in the south east zone of the Denomination of Origin La Mancha, region situated on a plain at an altitude of 700 meters.
The winery is provided with the most avant-garde elaboration techologies, as well as with the necessary infrastructures to carry out the perfect Crianza and ageing of the wines; the winery throws itself into the viniculture with the aim of getting the best fruit, wich will be responsible of the final quality of the wines.
Among the premises, somo original buildings are kept intact, such as the large building of earthenware jars (XIX Century) that contrasts with the ageing fittings, whose construction ended at the beginning of year 2002. It has been considered as a pice of modern architecture designed by the architects Bernalte and León.
The technical department of the winery controls around 600 Hectares of vineyards, mostly of more than 20 years old, of non-irrigated crops or with short drip irrigations and with capacity never over 6.000 kg/Hectare. All these factors together with the weather, the sunny hours and the soil (made up of detritus in dense layers) produce healthy fruits of balanced acidity, rich in sugars and in polyphenols.
